Nordic FAST5 is a high-energy winter innovative 5v5 league designed to give players more opportunities to play, compete and solve problems in a fast-paced, competitive and positive game environment.
Our league is designed to create positive learning experiences by providing meaningful touches and decisions to players wanting to enhance their skills, touches and decision making.
Played entirely at the Champlain Valley Exposition (The Expo), FAST5 removes much of the administration traditionally associated with winter league play. No player cards. No fixed roster submissions. No coaching-license requirement. Just bring your team and play.

THE FAST5 EXPERIENCE
FAST5 is an innovative player development league, designed by UEFA A Licensed Coach and Elite Coach Educator Gérard Jones. Games Format consists of 5v5 (4 field players + Goalkeeper) on world-class FIFA Graded indoor artificial turf, creating an environment where players are constantly involved.
Smaller spaces and fewer players means more than 300% increase in touches, 150% more successful actions compared to 7v7, 9v9 or 11v11 formats and 225% increase in 1v1 situations, with more transitions, more goals and more decisions.
When comparing 5v5 to regular 7v7 league play, individual players will touch the ball 54% more than 7v7. There is a 200% increase in Goalkeeper involvement and touches in 5v5 compared to larger formats.

The core idea behind FAST5 is designing an adapted indoor experience that allows players to be challenged, get meaningful experiences, less waiting, more intensity and more playing.
Games feature:
- 2 × 20-minute halves (running clock)
- 3-minute halftime
- Unlimited rolling substitutions
- No offsides
- Kick-ins or dribble-ins instead of throw-ins
- No Goalkeeper punts or drop-kicks
- Quick restarts (4secs)
- No slide tackling against an opponent
- POWERPLAY: goals scored during the final two minutes of each half count double
- Challenge Rule: adapted mercy rule designed to keep games competitive when scorelines become one-sided where teams can add additional players
More Than Just 5v5
FAST5 isn't simply another indoor or futsal league. We've adapted the rules to intentionally create different learning experiences. Four-second restarts, with the option to dribble or pass in and score directly, keep the game moving and players constantly involved. Our Challenge Rule allows a trailing team to add a player when the score difference reaches four goals, creating new situations for players on both teams to recognize and solve, making it challenging for the team leading to play against an overload and the team trailing to find and exploit the overload. During the final two minutes of each half, goals count double, creating a POWERPLAY period where players and coaches must adapt tactics, manage the score and make decisions under pressure. It's fast, fun and unpredictable by design, developing individual skill and more importantly INDIVIDUAL TACTICS not just team tactics, that can transfer into 7v7, 9v9 and ultimately 11v11 soccer in the Spring.

Age Eligibility Guidelines:

All FAST5 games are played at The Expo.
Three FAST5 fields operate simultaneously within our world-class artificially turfed indoor facility, allowing us to build compact schedules and, wherever possible, accommodate coaches responsible for multiple teams.
No driving between venues. No changing locations from week to week.
FLEXIBLE ROSTERS
Less paperwork. More playing.
FAST5 is designed to make winter soccer easy.
No fixed roster submission is required. No player cards are required.
Teams can manage their players flexibly throughout the session, including guest players where appropriate. This allows clubs to manage availability, injuries and changing winter commitments without unnecessary administrative barriers.
The emphasis is simple: create opportunities for kids to play within age-group divisions.
Nordic reserves the right to address roster use that materially undermines the competitive balance of a division.
COACHING MADE SIMPLE
Coaching multiple teams?
Tell us when you register.
Where possible, Nordic will schedule teams coached by the same individual back-to-back at The Expo, reducing unnecessary waiting and making the league easier for coaches managing multiple teams.
SCHEDULING & CONFLICTS
We know winter schedules can be complicated.
Each team may submit up to two scheduling conflicts per session during registration.
Nordic will make reasonable efforts to accommodate submitted conflicts, although specific game times cannot be guaranteed.
Schedules will also be designed around the published league breaks, with no FAST5 games scheduled during designated Thanksgiving, Christmas/New Year and other published blackout periods.

There are no additional fee to register a coach or team manager.

WHY FAST5?
Traditional indoor soccer can become another version of the outdoor game squeezed onto a smaller field.
FAST5 is intentionally different.
